We live in the “information age.” That means anyone with access to a computer can not only access information, they can spread information.
But how are we evaluating those who are teaching the rest of us what they want us to know? Or maybe a more basic question: Are we evaluating those who are teaching us at all?
The thing is, we always end up resembling whoever is “teaching” us. We may not even realize it while it’s occurring. But ideas are powerful, and they eventually begin to shape our attitudes. And our attitudes in turn shape and inform all our thoughts, emotions and actions.
“There’s nothing new under the sun,” Solomon says.
And so over 2000 years ago, Jesus warned his disciples to be careful what teachers (and teachings) they follow. They should be cautious about who they listen to.
Because the inevitable always happens.
We begin to morph into the person who teaches us. If that’s Jesus, the Son of God, the compassionate Savior of the world, then that’s not so bad. But if it’s someone with false or harmful ideas?
Well, the truth is: We will become as blind as they are.
“He also told them this parable: ‘Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher'” (Luke 6:39-40, NIV).
Our Bible reading for Friday, March 27, is Numbers 22:21 – 23:26, Luke 6:37-7:10 and Psalm 37:32-40.
Lord, too often I put myself under the influence of people who are spiritually blind. Help me to be discerning when I subject myself to information presented by others. Help me to understand that you are the one who can give me the truth. Help me to see that by following you and learning from you, I can become more like you. And that is what I want!

Sorry, I’ve been really sick and well…. a little delusional between fever and the meds. I’m feeling much better this morning and will have everything caught up today.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37 NIV)

Heavenly Father, it is so wonderful to share your word again this morning. We have talked often the last few days, we have discussed so many things. Thank you Lord for judging me and keeping accountable to my sin. Truly in Jesus I am forgiven and can forgive all of those I love. Father thank you for being my teacher, showing me your ways. I trust in you Lord, all of my faith and love are with you. Deliver me Father, keep everyone I love safe and in your open arms.
The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. (Psalm 37:39-40 NIV)
