Our thoughts inform our emotions. Our emotions impact our decisions.
Mind. Then heart. Finally, will.
David saw the pattern, and he wrote that the antidote to fear — especially the fear of others — is the one whom we think about, the one whom we delight in, and the one to whom we commit.
Some say it’s all about the why. David says it’s all about the who. And, in the end, for David there was only One.
“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes” (Psalm 37:3-7, NIV).
Our Bible reading for Monday, March 23, is Numbers 15:1 – 16:35, Luke 4:38-5:16 and Psalm 37:1-9.
Lord Jesus, send me your Holy Spirit. I want my mind, my heart and my will to be yours. I want you to be my One, as you were David’s One. May all my thoughts, emotions and decisions revolve around you. Help me to not fear anyone, except you.

Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. (Luke 5:10-11 NIV)
Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:15-16 NIV)
Heavenly Father, thank you for today and all you do. Thank you Jesus, the savior of mankind. If it is your will help us all to become fishers of men. Help us to share your word and the peace comes with your love. Help us to remain focused on you Lord. Give us that time each and every day to spend with you. To set aside a time when the noise of the earth is just a whisper on the stones. We commit to you Lord our hearts. We trust in you and your plans for each and everyone of us. We are your children, the children of God.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. (Psalm 37:4-6 NIV)
